Creating a patient-centered clinical experience requires an empathetic team. This quality is imperative for patients to feel they are being properly cared for. Empathy is putting yourself in your patient’s shoes. It is being able to remember what it feels like to be the patient. Imagining yourself as your patient will change your perception. Instead of thinking about the steps in the procedure, you will be reminded of the concerns from the patient’s perspective. If they are in your practice, they are already confident and trust that you have the skills to treat them.
Until our thoughts change, we won’t change. We are limited by our thoughts. Being stuck in a certain thought process sets us up to fail. There are many ways to get to the end. Being open to alternative ideas can create a culture of immense, mutual respect. When we consider other people’s thoughts we grow. By collaborating we can grow together.
Goals
Without vision, goals cannot be set up to support your vision. Specificity is required to reach those goals. Goals need to have a timeline and be measurable.
Allow me to be your catalyst.
